So I outlined everything in the back story. I don't know if I have time to write it up, so maybe Teo or Sarah can.
• No one is quite sure how the island came about
o It was discovered fairly recently, only nine years ago by wealthy multi-millionaire Joseph Farnsworth
o He was on a fishing trip using his personal yacht
o He, and his close friends, explored the island partially and discovered, to their surprise, pokemon of all kinds.
Even more fascinating, the pokemon were completely unused to human contact. They had never seen a human before!
o Farnsworth was ecstatic. As soon as he returned back to civilization (the southern shores of the Orange Islands), he immediately laid claim to the massive island.
• Farnsworth dubbed the island
• Immediately, Farnsworth began using his fortune to develop his new island
o He hired teams of professional explorers and surveyors to chart the island, discovering that island was massive, at least half the size of Hoenn
o Farnsworth began drafting plans for making the island
• Farnsworth Developments
o Half-Complete Mansion
o Communications Station (Almost Complete)
Include Radio Tower
Repeater (easier radio transmissions)
Various Equipment
o Sky Platform (Complete)
The sky platform is one of the biggest accomplishments of Farnsworth and its construction is a testament to the engineers who built it.
It was constructed first because of high priority given by Farnsworth
• Unfortunately, Farnsworth lost a good portion of his fortune due to a recession
o Construction was halted
o Eventually, finding himself strapped for cash, Farnsworth bid adieu to the island and sold it to the government
• The National Park
o Using the surveys that Farnsworth conducted, the government decided to transform the island into the largest park known to any of the regions
o They named it, The National Park
• Ranger Outposts
o Various outposts were set up in order to monitor the park
o Outpost 1 was built near the docks
o Another outpost was built next to the Communications Station located in the mountains
o The mansion itself was abandoned and remains deep within the forest. Random pokemon, especially ghosts, haunt the former residence
• Between the time of discovery and now, many people have tried to extract the resources of the island
o Poachers
o Rare Mineral Extractors
o Random Uncertified Adventurers
• Rangers have to be on the lookout for those who would ruin the island habitat
• Regarding the Island’s Origins
o Many experts are puzzled why the island had not been discovered before now. It’s so massive that in many ways, if could be its own region.
o A team of archaeologists wandered onto the island a year ago. When they returned, there was a bit of a… disagreement. A single archaeologist on the team claimed that the island was once inhabited by an ancient human civilization. The other members of the team, however, denied her assertions, claiming they saw nothing that indicated such a civilization. None of the members had any proof one way or the other.
o Every known pokemon in existence lives on the island. In fact, many biologists are amazed at the variety of flora and fauna on the island. Experts disagree whether the terrain on the island is natural or not. It seems perfect… too perfect.
o Every once in awhile, there is a strange reporting by one person or another. A ghost sighting or a creature that doesn’t register on the pokedex or weird noises coming from everywhere. Are they myths or is there a secret to this island?
