Thanks to Harry(as always), I've decided to do something like a possible Time line for the National Park. What needs to be done, and within what time and sorts. Which of course, includes test-runs, as well as what we plan on doing for the first few months of the Park's progression, and last but not least, all of our logistical concerns like Rangers for Trainers and so forth. I know Jess/Harry or most of you guys know this, but I can't find any thread or such stating them in an, organized manner. So I thought I'd do this one as well. How it works is really simple. All the work we do, or we need to do, just gets listed here, and of course, none other than Jess herself can do that. It'd be swell is you can PM me all those "things" that needs to be done, Jess, and I'll sort them out here. One by one, we can start tackling them down, and after they are finished or such, I'd just strike them over so that we can be focused on the other areas. Thought this would help you a bit Jess^^
All others, post your opinions/suggestions on this.
Here's what we need to do. I've finalized the list with Jess. So here it is.
-Plot + SU + Rules [first] -Battle Theory Agreement + and issues related -Mon locations/difficulties -Park Mart + Prices + Park entry fee -Any other ideas + other files + getting rid of unwanted stuff -Trial Runs for the Park -Promote Head Ranger + Elite Rangers -Ranger Test fixtures/agree on wages/How to become a Ranger FAQ or etc -Promote Rangers -Open the Park
I'm not adding any specific date dues to complete these tasks xD

Good idea Sam. We need a lot of organization. We probably should have a few different threads in regard to this. So let's brainstorm it out.
We do need a Time Line. A sort of sequence of what needs to be done and when. A sort of this leads to that. For instance, we can't start approving Rangers without first giving them the Ranger Test. And we can't give them the Ranger Test without first approving the Ranger Test we've created. And we can't approve the Ranger Test without first establishing the Park rp rules.
In addition, for the timeline, we need to try and establish dates that we want to have things done. It will encourage us to meet deadlines and keep the planning process moving. This entire thing has been in the shop for years. It's time to finish it in months.
Part of the timeline should be little tidbits and teasers we can drop every now and again into the PE2K URPG Park Section. This will keep people interested and possibly get a few ideas from the members. At the very least, people will know that the Park isn't dead.
Another thread should be one in which we divide the Park itself into various segments in order to better figure out how everything fits together. For example, the "Staffing" Segment includes Ranger Tests, Ranger Lists, Park Officials and Approvers, etc.
The "Park Description" Segment would include Park Locations and Pokemon Locations, Physical Description of the Park Itself, and the Background for the Park's Storyline.
And so on and so on. This way we can easily link related topics to each other.
Finally, we need a checklist. Essentially and outline of everything that has to get done. All the rules that need to be hammered out, the logistics that need to be completed, and the threads that need to be set up should be included on this list. As we complete each one, we cross it out and take one more step towards opening the Park.

Good idea Sam. We need a lot of organization. We probably should have a few different threads in regard to this. So let's brainstorm it out. Couldn't agree more with you, Harry. Different threads would also bring more categories. Especially those we need to work on.We do need a Time Line. Yeah, I'm thinking of listing dates and the day, specifically, so that we can finish that certain topic by then(hopefully). Of course, we have work them accordingly (like A to Z) without no downfalls here and there. It should go on smoothly^^In addition, for the timeline, we need to try and establish dates that we want to have things done. It will encourage us to meet deadlines and keep the planning process moving. This entire thing has been in the shop for years. It's time to finish it in months. Like I mentioned earlier, to prevent any further delays or such, I'd set a time limit for each category/topic that needs to be worked on.Part of the timeline should be little tidbits and teasers we can drop every now and again into the PE2K URPG Park Section. This will keep people interested and possibly get a few ideas from the members. At the very least, people will know that the Park isn't dead. Nice idea. That would get some people interested and get their juices running for a while. Or at least, they'd get more interested in the Park by the day. We should at least tell them we've not abandoned this whole place and we're still working on it.Another thread should be one in which we divide the Park itself into various segments in order to better figure out how everything fits together. For example, the "Staffing" Segment includes Ranger Tests, Ranger Lists, Park Officials and Approvers, etc. Something like the URPG : General has? Hmm, that could be very handy and useful. Lol, National Park itself is a big thing. Haha, we're so going to PWN xDThe "Park Description" Segment would include Park Locations and Pokemon Locations, Physical Description of the Park Itself, and the Background for the Park's Storyline. Well, once I get hold of all the things we're working at, I can get this thing started, and state which are the ones that should be worked on with top prioritization.Comments/Suggestions in bold xD

I have a very vague list I wrote up, but don't have on me atm ><. It's just a list of stuff we need to go over, things I mentioned in the General thread when I first posted. There are other things as well. Everyone else is, of course, free to post the things they think need work, and I'll post what I have when I get a chance.
First thing's first, though. We need to figure out the mechanics of the Park before we move on to other things. Bron has told me he doesn't see the need of a Battle Theory, and I admit I understand where he's coming from. However, we do need some sort of standard to determine how to figure damage, evading, countering and the like. We need a standard on how to score a person's creativity and such. Perhaps we don't need all the lists and such we already have, like the Terrain and Weather list. but we do need SOME sort of standard. Otherwise, outcomes will be completely biased by Rangers, and scores will be more like Grades than anything else. I do propose keeping (and editing, if need be) the Status file thing, but perhaps everything else can be overhauled? After all, we do want this to be as simple as possible, and currently, some of the things I've offered lean more towards Reffing than anything else (which isn't very good, considering we want this to be a more even mix of Reffing and Grading, and not one or the other too much).

Hmm. It does consist a little bit of reffing(knowing type advantages and about that after effects each move brings) and a little bit of grading(checking grammar and etc). We can revamp the Battle Theory a bit if you want, but we still need something to mark/progress the Trainer's post. If there's no point in that, then what? We do it the old normal way or something? Heck, that doesn't make sense even. Do determine the damage, all that counts in the post that the Trainer makes. We wouldn't want the Rangers be biased nor the Trainers to think we came up with something hoax and do things in the Ranger's favor.
As for the timeline, I'll write down a rough sketch of what needs to be done. I need to speak with Harry soon...

I posted my thoughts on a Battle Theory formula in Cress's thread.
In regards to the timeline. I think we should aim for a Summer Release date. In that time, more and more members will be free to participate. A lot of them will have extra time on their hands and they'll want to do something fun and exciting. The Park will be an excellent opportunity.
That being said, we only have two months to finish everything. That isn't a lot of time, so me must accelerate our schedule.
In addition, we need to start running some trials. One, they serve as a good way to detect any problems. Two, they may later serve as examples as what a Ranger and Trainer should do.
As always, as a Trial progresses, it would be good for all those who are participating to continuously write-up their thoughts about the Trial. Suggestions, Problems, and Opinions in a weekly or bi-weekly report will be helpful to us.

I've also posted a little something to replace the current Theories, which were rather complicated when one gets down to it ^^'. I think we could also scrap the Weather and Terrain thing, unless you guys think it would serve better as a reference for Trainers and Rangers. I do like the Status thing though, so any thoughts on that?
I believe once we get a Battle Theory agreed on, everything else will fall into place. The biggest things we need to get done are the Theory, the Plot, and the trial runs. While we do the trial runs we can iron out other things such as the Ranger Test and the like. However...do you guys honestly think we need an actual test to determine Rangers? Perhaps we can come up with a shorter, easier, faster way of finding out if someone is Ranger material than a test that looks more like something a potential Ref might take >>.

hmm...perphaps...Well, once we do have Rangers, those rangers will have to role play along with many trainers.
How about if when a Ranger spots a trainer that has grasped the general idea of the Park very well (judging from the way they RP) the Ranger can nominate said Trainer. The other Rangers will look that that trainer's posts and judge if he/she is "Ranger Material" and if it's agreed, that Trainer could be invited to become a new Ranger. The test itself could be that we give that person like a temporary liscence to see how they do (they should do nicely since all the Rangers agreed to give this person a chance).
Just an idea.

Your idea is similar to what I was thinking; having Rangers watch promising Trainers and then do as you said and nominate them.
I like the idea of giving someone a temporary license as a test. The only question I have is this: Would a person becoming an actual Ranger at the end of that period be the choice of whoever issued the permit? Or would several Rangers have to agree on accepting the person who was tested?

To avoid Rangers giving the job onto to people they like, I think several Rangers must agree on giving the promising Trainer a Ranger liscence whether it's a temporary or a permanent one.

I'm not sure how much I agree with the nominating process. It could end up being a disaster if a group of friends become Rangers, then decide to promote their own among them. Let's avoid that problem.
In addition, being a good roleplayer and being a good Ranger are two different things. There is some skill set overlap, but there are a lot of things different about it too.
A Ranger Test is needed to check the skills a roleplayer may not have.
However, that may not be enough. There needs to be a higher authority of approval. Else you won't have a failsafe if the wrong person makes it through.

Like Harry mentioned, there could be favoritism/etc among the Rangers who're seeing the "potential" ones as well. They'd end up promoting their friends or etc. We should have one Head Ranger, some Elite Rangers(like those Senior Refs) followed by normal Rangers. Tests completed would be submitted to any one of those,
Just because one did extremely well in the tests, doesn't mean they're perfect for the job, nor the ones who did badly aren't worthy at all. How to promote them to Rangers/etc is simple. Make them take the test(no quiz or such), and submit it to the Elite Ranger/Head Ranger. If they alone/individually can't come up with a decision, they may discuss and such for a final decision. That's what I think anyways.

So we do indeed need a Ranger Test, then. Well, what edits need to be done to the one we have so it's not as ref-based as it is now? Or should we just come up with a new Test altogether?
Also, I've come up with a VERY ROUGH outline of the things we need to try and get done within the next several weeks. I haven't put dates to any of this yet and it's all open to discussion. Things can be moved depending on how important they are.
- Agree on a Battle Theory - Agree on a RP Plot and rules (First two are interchangeable) - Discuss other files and decide which ones to keep/get rid of - Discuss the Mon Location List - Discuss how Mon difficulties should be arranged - Decide how to choose Rangers - Discuss other ideas that may come up - Discuss Park Mart items/prices/fee for Park entry - Conduct trial runs for Park and Mission - Discuss Ranger Wages (how much and how often) - Fix any problems that come up during the trial runs - Promote Rangers - Promote Head Rangers - Open the Park!
So yeah. Thoughts?

About the Ranger Test, we'd have to go through the one we already have, discuss what needs to be changed or such. OR we can make up a new one, which requires more grading then reffing. Reffing plays a major part, in terms of type advantages and etc.
Hmm, that list looks okay so far, but yeah, there are some that you might have missed out. The Sign Up thingie. Did you go through my thread? I need some opinions/suggestions on that.
